Today, Woodshed Music, a Horsham-based music school that offers lessons in guitar, piano, drums, vocals and much more, announces its new summer holiday experience for kids from 7-16 years old: “Summer Rocks”. A four-day workshop with four professional tutors who are specialists in writing songs, performing, singing, recording and producing music will culminate in a live performance finale in a professional venue for the children taking part.

The first three days of “Summer Rocks” will involve writing their very own original band song with a professional composer, learning a set list of songs guided by the team of experienced tutors and experiencing the thrill of a professional recording setup to create their very own band album. The bands will decide their image as well as working on stage presence, lighting design and performance techniques. The finale will be on stage in the Studio at The capitol Theatre ending with an amazing performance event that parents and friends and family can come and watch.

Jason Gooding, owner of Woodshed Music

“Summer Rocks is about children experiencing music, regardless of their experience, allowing them to be part of a band and learning an instrument. The songs are arranged from simple three note riffs to complex solos so that everyone can contribute to the sound of the group. The aim is to build confidence and creativity in music and provide a Summer experience like no other. The expert tutors have over 8 decades of collective experience working in education and within the music industry and are dedicated in providing an amazing opportunity. We’ve designed every session to be fun, with all equipment provided, to make each day a day they will never forget.”

Woodshed Music was created by Jason Gooding following a 23 career in education as a music teacher in the UK and New Zealand. When he needed a kidney transplant two years ago for degenerative condition, Jason decided to take the opportunity to start his new business: bringing music lessons to children from across Horsham and beyond. He still works with schools, providing planned music lessons for primary and secondary age children, as well as offering private tutoring with him and a team of professional musicians and educators.
