Founder’s Notes
I started teaching over 20 years ago and after a long and successful career in schools as a Head of Music, I wanted to spend time on my true passion...giving others the opportunity to learn music in a fun and exciting way and enhance community music. My ambition is to take my love for music and with a team of dedicated professionals, grow musical experience in Horsham. The vision is to enthuse anyone who wants to learn through a carefully structured, fun programme developing music reading skills, group and solo playing using accessible music. Woodshed Music School is more than about teaching music, it is also about providing opportunities to perform in informal recitals, jam sessions and workshops as well as getting the local community to make music together and get to meet other budding musicians
WHAT WE OFFER
Our aim to is provide tuition on as many instruments as the community demands. We can provide lessons on Keyboard and Piano, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Ukulele, Drums, Wind, Brass and Voice. For rock instruments, we provide the instruments during the lesson but you are more than welcome to bring your own. For classical instruments it is advised that you have an instrument to bring.
Pricing
Group lessons £7.50 per lesson
Individual 20 mins £12.50 per lesson
Individual 30 mins £ 15.00 per lesson
Lessons booked for 10 week block will get 10% discount
OUR LESSONS
We offer group and one-to-one lessons in any instrument you want. We don't believe in waiting lists and if there is a demand, we deliver. During the lessons you will learn how to play from exciting programmes that focus on having fun. Access practice material and tutor feedback from our members area so you can track your progress. Whether you are having group or one-to-one lessons your tutor will always make sure you get the attention you need.
THE MUSICLAB
Where possible, lessons will use a MusicLab system so that you can work without distraction, have individual attention from your tutor but also gives you the opportunity to listen and work with others in collaborative learning. The bespoke system is used on electronic instruments such as keyboard, bass, electric guitar and electric drums. Each student can work in a calm, distraction free environment and be able to talk and listen to their tutor through a headset. The system can also pair up players or even have an entire class performing with everyone being heard through the headsets. The MusicLab is truly flexible.
OUR TEACHERS
All our dedicated teachers are highly experienced and passionate about music. The only way you can become a tutor of our team is to be a great teacher. All our tutors are DBS ENHANCED checked and we have a rigorous review to make sure you are getting the highest quality lesson every time. We encourage you to communicate directly with the teacher as working together to get the best out of your music lessons is important to us.

REQUIREMENTS

Have previous teaching experience

Good written verbal communication skills

Deliver all lessons for each term

Own transport but not essential

Secure musical theory and use relevant staff notation

Tutors are required to have an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54 (required once appointed)

Public liability cover with a minimum of 10 million when successfully appointed

Complete feedback each week to assist students practice

Be willing go above and beyond for your students

Pay is £26 per hour (travel time excluded)
